About me

In 2024, I had the pleasure and honour of acting as celebrant at my sister’s wedding. I loved the process of writing a ceremony that was personal to Laura and Edd. It was a reflection of who they are and how they wanted to celebrate.

Performing the ceremony in front of friends and family was slightly more daunting than teaching a classroom full of 34 boys (for my job at the time). Once I settled in, I found it to be such a special experience. Afterwards I received a lot of positive feedback: how much they enjoyed the ceremony, how well they thought I did and a number of them told me I should be doing this as a profession.

That summer I was a guest at a few other weddings. It saw a contrast of officiating styles and, importantly, the differences between something personal (celebrant) and something more routine (registrar).

I started to think about the suggestions of becoming a celebrant more seriously and that’s where I find myself today, making this a profession. I believe that weddings are such a special day and I believe that they should reflect the personality and values of the couple.

My background is varied, ranging from conservation to HR to teaching to even sales way back when. It’s these multitudes of experiences, along with a performing arts and sports-centred childhood that have shaped my ability to hold a room and tell and story. As a teacher, I was often praised for my ability to hold the attention of students in an engaging manner and explain complex concepts in a very simple way. It’s through both the natural presence, combined with my training and development in telling stories and communication that has brought me to my ability to deliver a enjoyable, personal wedding to the highest standard.
